Eddie jumped when he looked at her and flinched when he spoke. She was so paranoid and terrified it was impossible to compose herself. He was proof that walking down the street had almost deadly consequences. She nodded at her words, again, not speaking. Slowly she rose form the ground, still trembling as she eyed him closely. Now that she was aware of him and was under control, she could walk past him almost should to shoulder and only boost him a little, but it was still risky and she planned to give him a wide walk around but she was still shaky and walking was going to be difficult. Looked down, feeling guilt that she’d been so careless Eddie stammered out a soft “I’m sorry.” before she wrapped her arms around herself, staring at the pavement under her feet.
the woman had not meant to effect him. did not seem to have known she was until he had mentioned something. that enough told him not to get any closer, though he wanted to see if she was alright. anyone else would have been furious. perhaps even thought that she had meant what had happened. no such anger blinded him. it was not until he had gathered himself and managed to stand up straight that he turned his head back to her. the apology came as she tucked into herself, brows furrowing before he shook his head.
